DescriptionOur client is inviting applications from candidates with proven experience in Animal Facility Management, for some exciting opportunities at their preclinical facilities based near to Edinburgh, Scotland. Benefits include:  Opportunity to manage a large animal facility in this prestigious organisation  Relocation assistance- up to 17% of salary  Money purchase pension plan - contributory  Free life assurance as plan member (e.g. 4 x salary)  Free private health care cover (self, spouse and dependent children)  Subsidised staffroom  Active sports and social club  Free car parking Ideal candidates: •A qualification in laboratory animal science or a related subject, e.g. MIAT, HOL, NACWO, is essential •Candidates should have significant experience of working with animals in a CRO or Pharmaceutical background •Experience of running toxicology and carcinogenicity studies (knowledge of repro-toxicology and metabolism studies an advantage) •Excellent people management skills are required as the post will involve managing at least 30 people •You should be an effective communicator who is able to deal with people at all levels. In addition, you will have proven experience of motivating your team to ensure they are always focused on achieving their goals and objectives Your duties will include all aspects of the day to day running of the unit including the management, supervision and training of staff working on a range of study types including toxicology, carcinogenicity and metabolism studies. Other duties include: •Performing the role of NACWO – ensuring the team provides a high quality animal care and welfare service that complies to regulations •Managing studies including long-term planning, liaising with Study Directors and scientific personnel and maintenance of effective working relationships •Defining recruitment needs for the group, in addition to shaping the training and career development for staff, conducting appraisals and disciplinary actions where appropriate •Contributing to various other areas including marketing activities, preparation of budgets and representing the company at conferences and visits
